On 05 June 2010 Episode 1 of The UK Geocaching Podcast was released for general listening.
It started as a one presenter, monthly show and the amount of support was great. We have had our ups and downs, tears and joy. Some six years later we have had three presenters on the team and then two.
I truly believe that LJ and Chris brought a new dynamic to the show, made it more fun and much less monotonous of a listen. We went from strength to strength, monthly shows were great fun to record and edit and I still laugh when I think of the fun times.
Chris decided to leave the team and LJ and I worked very hard to produce the same level of quality and content that we had when Chris was with us. We both felt at the time that losing Chris lost something from the podcast. Chris’ priorities changed and his last show was in July of 2013.
Almost three years later we are still here. And that is primarily what this post is about.
We recorded a show on Thursday 07 July 2016 and after recording we sat and had a very long discussion. The result of that discussion is that all good things must come to an end.
So, what next?
We are not going to release a show in July. Due to scheduling issues and LJ and my availability we not not be releasing a show in August.
Our final show will be in September 2016 and it will be our grand farewell.
Six years and fifty plus shows, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all, on behalf of LJ and myself, for listening all this time, sharing our stories and silliness, fun and pain.
LJ and I will still be Geocaching as much as we can and for my part I will try and blog my adventures at http://yesthatfinch.wordpress.com. I am on Twitter (https://twitter.com/yesthatfinch) as is LJ (https://twitter.com/kernowtography)
I also want to thank LJ and Chris for all their time and effort that they have put into the show, without them the podcast would not have lasted as long as it has.
Finally, I want to thank you. Yes, you. Without you and people like you, many of whom I have come to consider my friends, this little podcast wouldn’t have lasted even one year. You have all been so supportive (and berating when necessary!) and you have supported us through the good times and the bad. Thank you, sincerely, thank you.
Nothing more to say except, be excellent to each other. And, PARTY ON DUDES!
