Missing Geocacher

I have received an email about a Geocacher who went missing recently.

Rogue Trader

Rogue Trader, aka Malcolm Stewart was last seen, looking at maps, at Bristol Parkway station on 23 June. He boarded a train to Abergavenny. It’s possible that he was planning a Geocaching trip to the area.

Anyone able to help is asked to contact police in South Gloucestershire on 0845 4567000,

Let’s hope he’s OK. I will update this post if/when I have any more information.

UK Geocaching Podcast Show 4, November 2010

Once again we have managed to miss a month (October) and only now have the new show. Unfortunately due to illness and broken equipment, the broken equipment is not sorted and I have had to use a (very) inferior quality microphone to record.

Consequently, sound quality is reduced and you may well have to make use of the volume control on your player. Sorry!!

What stops you from Geocaching?

A simple question that will get a number of strange and wonderful answers!

Competition

Record some audio while on a Geocaching adventure and send it to me. Prize is an unactivated Travel Bug.

Record it to any format (WAV, MP3, OGG, or AIFF prefered – MP3 produces the smallest file) and email it to ukgcpodcast@gmail.com with the title “November Competition” or similar.

If you have a way to upload the file to a host from which you can then send me a link, that’s great too!

Closing date (provisionally) 30 November. I may well extend to end of December.

Geoscenes 5 – 12 September 2010

Welcome to the first edition of Geoscenes!

Just a quick note before going to the photos, I have realised that Sunday is a really BAD day to write the new post, so a little change. The week will run Monday to Sunday with a new digest post Tuesday or Wednesday to give y’all time to get the photos sorted and over to me.

We’ve had a number of photos submitted and they are below for your ocular pleasure!

Team Puuce (Latvian for Owl when spelled Puce the guys tell me) who I met just after the Picnic At Your Peril caching event. A lovely Latvian pair of cachers living not too far from me. My apologies for the quality of the photo, taken with the iPhone in a hurry…

One from the other side of the pond:

Andy at Rock City (A Virtual Cache). Andy says

Out geocaching with NCBiscuit, Carolina Trombone and Mclem829 and came across this virtual geocache known as Rock City (GC9EF3). It is on Highway 86 about midway between Hillsborough, NC and Dansville, VA.

Someone made this amazing village out of stones and believe me when I say the pictures do not give it justice. Not only is there a very cool village but all the fencing around the owners house is made of the same materials. It is one of those sites you just have to see to believe.
